I apologize for being MIA these days but I've been busy, busy, busy!!! I have a product review that I need to publish for the dressguards I recently purchased for the Raleigh from Simeli in The Netherlands. I was also going to post a teaser photo but lol, Im not at my home computer at the moment.
I will get the review with LOTS of photos posted by Sunday at the the lastest with hopefully some pictures of the Raleighs new tyres too if my Bike Mehanic is in the shop in Saturday. I'm soooo excited about those tyres too.

Good Grief Charlie Brown
No photos but another commentary.
We're planning a trip to Portland, Oregon next summer. 1st reason is for my husband to finally meet my mom. 2nd: So he can see my favorite city in the U.S. 3rd is so we can rent Dutch Bikes instead of a car to play tour guide and tourist. My ulterior motive though is to buy a Workcycles Oma and bring it back up to Canada. I think if last thing happens I'll shelve my Mixte dream and become the Loopy Loop-frame Gal of Alberta, kind of like the crazy cat lady but with bikes:) I'll also keep an eye out on the Portland Craiglist to see if I can find an older one but I wont say no if hubby says yes to a new one:)
Can I get a SQUEE?!?

Mixte Bikes Revisited
I just can't get them out of my head. I really want a Mixte Bike but everytime I find one it ends up being just not the right one for me. I'm almost thinking I better start saving up to have a custom Mixte frame made for me. Of course that means I'll have to think of the hows and whats I want to have this bike do for me and so on so that means a ton of research, making inquiries to various frame builders and more more research.
I'm giving myself a year to save up money after I get the Pashley and hopefully it will all sort itself out.
If anyone has any vintage options I should look for that would be greatly appreciated too. My purpose for this bike will be city biking, weekend touring/randonneuring. I do not want to use drop bars either so it would have to be compatible with another type(yet to be determined)

A Very Bikey Business
When I lived in Portland, Oregon I wasn't a cyclist:( However, since this was "my city" I was still aware of the "bike scene" as it pertained to the area of Portland I lived in, which was downtown.
When I lived there there was this awesome bike place that, if memory recalls correctly, was close to Yamhill Market.
Why does this bike place stick in my memory over 10+ years later? Because it was a combination secured bike storage, shower and DIY bike repair place all rolled up in one convenient place for bike commuters.
This is something I'd love to do myself someday in downtown Edmonton. I think there are quite a few vacant spaces in the downtown area that could serve well for this kind of business too.
Add a good coffee shop or get my favorite cafe to open a second place inside and I think it could be a new fun bikey place to hang out at downtown:)

Anniversary Bike Ride
Today is D and mine's 9th Anniversary so we of course slept in and then headed out for a late morning bike ride.
Normally I wouldn't wear so much black but I haven't done laundry yet so its what I had :)

We decided to bike to somewhere we've never been to before in Edmonton, The Legislature Building and grounds
They do free tours of the building so we locked up our bikes and played tourists:)
I took a lot of photos during our tour but I'll just post some of my favorite ones
This is the view looking up from the ground floor...The tour guide said the Palms have been up there for about 50 years and could survive another 150-200 years

After the tour we bike around the grounds a bit
